ANNOUNCED TODAY. BBC America’s Ripper Street has been renewed for a third season. Read the full press release here.
New York – February 26, 2014 –Announced today, BBC AMERICA’s critically acclaimed drama series Ripper Street has been commissioned for a third season. From producers Tiger Aspect Productions and Lookout Point, Ripper Street will continue to be co-produced by BBC AMERICA and in a new landmark deal, Amazon has acquired UK subscription streaming rights.
Starring Matthew Macfadyen (Anna Karenina), Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), Adam Rothenberg (Elementary) and MyAnna Buring (Downton Abbey) and created by BAFTA nominated Richard Warlow (Waking the Dead, Mistresses), the crime drama is set against the notorious ‘H Division,’ the Police Precinct charged with keeping order on the meanest streets imaginable – late Victorian London’s Whitechapel district. The eight-part second season premiered in the US on BBC AMERICA on Saturday, February 22.
The series is a vivid, sensual and violent drama that explores the lives of those who have seen the worst of humankind, but who nonetheless struggle each day to bring law to the lawless in the dark heart of London, as it stumbles toward the Twentieth Century. Filming on season three will begin in May 2014.
Production has begun in Vancouver British Columbia for new BBC America original series Intruders, starring John Simm (Life on Mars, State of Play, Doctor Who) and Oscar winner Mira Sorvino.
The series is about a secret society devoted to chasing immortality by seeking refuge in the bodies of others. Produced by BBC Worldwide Productions, from writer and executive producer Glen Morgan (The X-Files), the series is based on Michael Marshall Smith’s novel ‘The Intruders.’
A contemporary, chilling, paranormal tale set in the moody Pacific Northwest, the series spins a fascinating and complex web of drama. As strange, apparently unrelated events start happening, multiple story-lines – a missing wife, an assassin covering his crimes, a child on the run – begin to intertwine to reveal a conspiracy that will forever change our understanding of human nature.
